The Tax Shack Inc helps taxpayers get as much refund back as they qualify for by looking for every tax deduction and tax credit available.

Welcome to the Shack!

Thinking about hiring us?

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to learn more about us!

We are excited to meet you and work with you.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Trying some place new can be intimidating and sometimes even scary.  We understand.  We do everything we can to try to make this process as easy as possible.

We do not operate on an appointment basis.  You do not need an appointment to come to our office when we are open.  When you have your tax documents ready to bring in, just stop by.  We will have you drop your paperwork off with us after conducting a brief interview and having you sign some engagement paperwork.  You are welcome to ask us any questions that you have.  We typically do returns in the order that we receive them.  We will call you when we are working on it if we have additional questions, and then we will call you to let you know when it is ready to pick up.

You pay for services at the time of pick-up and signing.  If you have multiple years that need filing, we request a $200 deposit per year at your drop-off that will be applied to our invoice (and refunded if you have overpaid).  We do not electronically file any returns until they have been signed and paid for.

You (and your spouse if applicable) will need to sign the return before it can be filed.  You should always review a return and sign it prior to it being filed no matter where you take your taxes.

If you need to file an extension, we do request a $100 deposit from new clients to file an extension.  Returning clients do not get charged this fee.  The $100 is applied to our invoice when we do the taxes.  However, if you do not have us file the taxes by October 15th (the extension deadline), we keep the deposit as it's own separate fee.

What to bring with you when you are ready to drop off:

     - Photo ID

     - Social security cards for you and your dependents

     - Birth certificates for your dependents if possible, but not required if you have the social security card

     - A copy of the prior year's return if you have it.  Preferably the prior 2-3 years if possible.

     - Any W-2's, 1099's, 1098's, K-1's, and a 1095-A if you are on the state health exchange

     - Bank account and routing number if you want direct deposit of your refund or direct withdrawal of any

        tax owed.

     - The amounts you received in 2020 and 2021 for Economic Stimulus Payments.

We have several checklists that can help you organize your information.  You can find those here.

You can see the most recent annual newsletter here.  Returning clients will receive similar letters some time around the holiday season each year as a reminder for tax time.

Check out information on the recent tax extenders signed into law for 2018 through 2021 here.

And important Tax Season Dates are listed here.

Thank you for checking out The Tax Shack.  We look forward to working with you!
